Iris Recognition

Iris Recognition

The Japanese company Oki Electric has announced that they are developing the new technology for mobile phones. The iris recognition application will be the first one to use the existing camera on the phone in order to recognize the owner.

As you see the phones for that applications need to be smartphones or PDAs and the application will give you the highest level of protection known these days, well, except for not giving it to anyone.

When the phone is blocked they will not be able to do anything with it: calls, access the web, nah, forget about those. These actions need to be authorized by you and your iris.

Iris Recognition Software version 1.0 is going to need at least 1 or 2 MP camera in order to function properly. How does it work with a usual phone camera? They use some kind of proprietary algorithm that was specially designed to work with standard cell phone cameras.

This program will also have support on Symbian and Windows Mobile and the majority of smartphones are using these systems to run. So feel safe with this application on your phone.

However, there is now word on when this wonderful application will come out and how much is it going to cost. We will notify you when it happens, because I would love to install something like that on my phone.
