Use your iPhone while you’re diving in the ocean? This may be possible with the waterproof cases from OtterBox. This new OtterBox case comes with three layers of protection, including a patented touchscreen membrane that lets you take advantage of the iPhone’s multi-touch interface while it is stored securely within. Every single button is protected yet usable, while the Dock Connector, silent/ring switch, and headphone ports remain usable via the use of plugs.
It will take several more months before the OtterBox for iPhone hits store shelves, so pricing details have yet to be determined.

Hi—
Just wanted to clarify, this new OtterBox for iPhone case is only a semi-rugged case. It is only water-resistant, not completely waterproof. We plan to have another iPhone case in the future that will be completely waterproof, but the renderings above are the semi-rugged, water-resistant case.

The concept is quite good, but how many people do you think would stall chance taking an expensive phone underwater, and even more importantly, using it underwater?
On another note, how well would the phone pick up a signal through the case, and through the water? I think it would maybe be a handy item if you were on a boat, or on holiday and you have the phone near a swimming pool as a safety precaution.
