Intel is planning to launch its 45nm processors “Penryn” this coming January 2008, which consists of dual core “Wolfdale” processors and “Yorkfield” quad core processors. Prices are expected to increase somewhat compared to Intel’s previous roadmap, with the lowest priced dual core clocking in at around US$170, and the highest-priced quad core coming in at a reasonable US$270.
According to the source, adjusted price is higher due to the seeming inability of AMD to field the products to compete in certain pricing brackets.
