Here you are! I’m now allowed to talk about the new waterproof Xacti DMX-CA8 which will be sold in Japan mid-May, 2008.
So… What’s up Doc? Our camera now has a 8Mpix CMOS sensor as well as a new “face chaser” which works with both photos and video, and up to four different persons even under water! It’s waterproof and compatible with JIS IPX5 and IPX8 Japanese standard, meaning that you can stay at a maximum of 1.5m depth under water for one hour.
As for codec, Sanyo uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 at 60fps in VGA, a 5x optical zoom.
As performance, the DMX-CA8 is simply put a DMX-CA65 (You can access to our review of the CA65 here), which is a good thing, but we would really love for Sanyo to jump into the 16:9 world.
So what’s next? a 720p waterproof version ? Please Sanyo… Please!!!
