Core 2 Extreme From Tsukumo!

As you could expect, the Tsukumo shops in Akihabara sell PC products, and their main building, that you can easily spot thanks to its big black tower, is located right in Chuo Dori, the main avenue. Tsukumo doesn’t only sell what you can find “almost” everywhere else, they also come up with their own range of Personal Computers called: “Tsukumo Approved”. Today we take a quick look at their “Evolution EB30J FullAcceleEdition A.C.S” with ANTEC case.

The processor is an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 @ 3GHz on an ASUS P5E motherboard rocking Intel’s X38 chipset with support of the PCI Express 2.0. More good stuff includes 2GB RAM pc6400, Nvidia GeForce 8800GT, 1TB HDD in SATA, and the whole thing is set at a price of 2220€ in Japan.

INSPIRE Extreme QX96500XN/DVR, that’s the lovely name that PC maker “Faith” gave to its latest baby.
The little monster is powered by an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 mounted on an X38 chipset motherboard (ASUS P5E3 Deluxe with WiFi), features 2GB of RAM (max from Corsair (Corsair TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX G PC10600), 150GB SATA II HDD @ 10.000rpm linked to a 500GB SATA II HDD @ 7200rpm, the video card is an Nvidia GeForce 8800GT @ 512MB GDDR3-256bit DVix2, all this in a SilverStone SST-TJ10B E-ATX.

NEC XS9 Super Computer

Japan’s NEC Corp. on Thursday announced the launch of what it called the world’s most powerful supercomputer on the market, meant for advanced use in the sciences.

Since the 1970s, major computer makers such as NEC, Fujitsu and Hitachi in Japan and IBM, Intel and SGI in the United States have been vying to build the most powerful computer, measured in terms of gigaflops and teraflops.

NEC said that its latest supercomputer, called SX-9, is capable of calculating 839 teraflops — or 839 trillion floating point operations per second.

“The SX-9 has been developed to meet the need for ultra-fast simulations of advanced and complex large-capacity scientific computing,” Yoshikazu Maruyama, senior vice president of NEC Corp., said in a statement.

NEC’s supercomputers are used in fields including advanced weather forecasting, aerospace and in large research institutes and companies.

The company said it has already sold more than 1,000 supercomputers in the SX series.

The SX-9 will first go on display at a supercomputing convention next month in Reno, Nevada.
